Lux Lumen Intellectual Property founder Wen Xie was honored to speak at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s International Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence and Industrial Design, held on October 22, 2025, at the Clara Barton Auditorium in Alexandria, Virginia.
The roundtable brought together international patent leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss the evolving role of AI-generated designs and the complex legal and policy questions surrounding inventorship and creatorship.
Ms. Xie participated in Session 2: “Design in Practice: Creating AI-related Designs — Industry and Creative Perspectives,” where she shared insights from her practice on the use of generative AI tools in industrial design, practical considerations for creators, and the implications of AI on design protection and intellectual property policy, particularly inventorship when AI-tools are utilized.
As AI continues to reshape innovation, events like this underscore the need for collaboration between policymakers, practitioners, and technologists to ensure that IP frameworks evolve alongside emerging technologies.
